Introduction

A few months back, I received a call from a good old friend of mine. We were having a detailed conversation about our lives, before and after kids. We were discussing how things change drastically after marriage and kids, and how it has also had a major impact on our lifestyles.

“Hey, does your constipation still keep you grumpy all day? I am sure that is one thing that has not changed, ha ha ha!”, my friend teased me. Though I laughed it out with her, deep down within, I was hurt by her remark because she was indeed right. I have been struggling with constipation for many years now. That day I took a pledge that I will do everything in my capacity to get rid of this problem.

Any kind of troubleshooting requires us to first analyse the factors responsible for causing the trouble. I decided to take Google’s help. I was surprised to find so much information on the factors causing constipation. I learned that constipation is primarily a lifestyle disease or condition.

A sedentary lifestyle is what is responsible for most digestive issues but there are 3 specific lifestyle habits that are the source of constipation in the modern-day.

Lifestyle Habits That Cause Constipation:

  • Not drinking enough water (dehydration) – We require at least 8-10 glasses of water per day and most people are unable to fulfil this requirement on a daily basis.
  • Not getting enough exercise – At least 30 minutes of physical activity every day helps in the improvement of digestion. Today’s sedentary lifestyle is not suitable for this.
  • Eating foods low in fibre – Foods rich in fibre aid in smooth bowel movements and our usual dietary patterns might not aid in providing the daily required fibre intake.

I have been drinking enough water every day, and I exercise for at least 30 minutes daily. Yes, the current situation has halted my morning walk sessions in the park, but I do compensate for that with a 15-minute Zumba session, thrice a week. I eat fresh fruits and vegetables, pulses, whole wheat Roti and Atta Bread. Meanwhile, I was also checking what else I need to incorporate into my diet.  This question kept bothering me until I came across the Digestive Test on Happytummy.aashirvaad.com

Aashirvaad, along with a team of expert nutritionists, has designed the Digestive quotient test to check your digestive score on a scale of 1 to 100. I immediately took this simple 2-minute test. My digestive score came out to be 56 which was above average, but there was a lot of scope for improvement. The test not only gives you your overall digestive score but also provides insights into how you can improve your digestive health. Our digestive health is one aspect of our wellbeing that many of us tend to ignore the most. Healthy digestion paves way for a healthy body and mind.

I then read about ITC Aashirvaad Atta with Multigrains, which has been a household name for quite some years. ITC Aashirvaad Atta with Multigrains contains the goodness of 6 grains to augment your everyday food with much-needed fibre content without affecting the taste of your rotis.

Conclusion

The goodness of 6 different grains; wheat, soya, maize, Channa, oat and psyllium husk in a single pack makes it high in fibre, which supports your overall digestive health while also providing you with several micronutrients. So friends, if the constipation problem is keeping you grumpy all day, try adding fibre rich foods to your diet, ensure enough water intake and follow a simple exercise routine. Remember – You need A happy tummy for a happy you!
