Dear Kamrudeen, Thank you for the question
Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic, inflammatory disease of the axial spine. Chronic back pain and progressive spinal stiffness are the most common features of this disease. Involvement of the spine, sacroiliac joints, peripheral joints, digits, and entheses are characteristic, therefore it is important to take care of calcium and vitamin D requirements for bone health, maintain bone mineral density and prevent the risks of osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, etc.
Some of the calcium sources include milk, cheese, paneer, Ragi, curd, yogurt.
Recommended daily allowance for Calcium is 1000mg per day for men.
Sunlight is the one of best sources of vitamin D, exposing yourself to the sun or sunbathing for 10-15 minutes can help maintain bone health and vitamin D increases the absorption of calcium in the bones. Other sources of Vitamin D include eggs, fatty fish, fortified cereals etc.
Recommended daily allowance for Vitamin D is 15mcg per day for men.
As per some experts, it can be considered healthy to have a bowel movement ranging from 3 times a day to 3 times a week.
Weakness, fatigue or lethargy can be due to insufficient or inadequate dietary intake, dehydration, nutritional deficiency or may be a symptom of any underlying health condition which may require medical attention.
