Is saturated fat better than carbs
Dear Tashi Gyaltsen, Thank you for the question
Carbohydrates & Fats are both important components of daily balanced diet. Both fats and carbohydrates play individual roles in contributing to body’s metabolic functions.
A balanced diet should provide around 50-60% of total calories from carbohydrates, preferably from complex carbohydrates and 20-30% of total calories from fats. Carbohydrates are a good source of energy. You can include whole grains like wheat, millets and multigrain in your diet as they are a good source of fiber and other nutrients. Fats help in the absorption of vitamins A, D, E, K. Among fats, try to limit the intake of saturated fats and consume good quality fats like MUFA (mono-unsaturated fatty acids) & PUFA (polyunsaturated fatty acids).
Consumption of any food group or nutrient etc., can potentially be harmful for health. Both fats & carbohydrates should be consumed in adequate amounts meeting the recommended daily intakes. It is recommended that intake of saturated fats should not exceed 8-10% of total energy.
Hope we have answered your query.
Wishing you a great day ahead
