Dear Yaminisadhana, Thank you for the question
Mucus is present in the digestive tract and plays an important role in defending against bacteria. Small amounts of mucus in the stool is normal. However, if a person notices larger amounts of mucus in their stool along with blood, it may be a sign of Irritable bowel disease (IBD), IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), or other underlying medical condition that may require medical attention. We recommended you to consult a specialized health care professional such as a gastroenterologist for further diagnosis and management
Gastrointestinal digestive issues such as acid reflux/acidity can be a symptom of GERD (Gastro oesophageal reflux disease), indigestion, constipation, IBS, intolerances, food allergies etc., and/or due to an underlying health condition which may require medical attention. For further diagnosis and assistance kindly contact your specialized health care professional.
