Dear Moon, Thank you for the Question.

Vacations are a time to relax and maintaining weight on vacation can be achieved with some planning and mindful habits. Here are some tips to help you stay on track.

  • One of the key aspects during vacation is to relax and enjoy the local cuisines & delicacy in right proportions and in a mindful manner. Being Mindful while eating is necessary to have a control over food cravings & hunger.
  • Identify healthy eating options at your destination, and be mindful of the portion sizes especially with calorie dense foods.
  • Consume small frequent meals, with healthy snacking options. You can carry healthy snacks like nuts, fruits, and granola bars.
  • Eat a well-balanced diet that includes all the 5 food groups (cereals, pulses, fruits, vegetables, milk & milk products).
  • Do not skip your meals & begin your day with a well-balanced breakfast as it is an important meal of the day.
  • Include protein in your diet. Some of the sources include pulses, lentils, milk, paneer, soybean, eggs, lean meat, nuts & seeds, etc.
  • Indulge in meals that are high in Fibre. Fiber in your meals can potentiate the satiating property, suppress excess hunger and control food intake. All fruits and vegetables, whole grains, multigrains, millets, nuts & seeds etc., are a good source of fiber.
  • Carbonated and alcoholic beverages to be limited or preferably avoided.
  • Deep Fried foods to be restricted. Choose meals that are baked, grilled, boiled, or steamed.
  • Minimum of 8 glasses of water should be consumed to keep yourself hydrated.
  • Have your last meal at least 2-3 hours before Bed time.
