Regular physical activity to moderate intensity is beneficial for health. Some of the simple ways to be active include walking, cycling, sports (outdoor), active recreation and play, and can be done at any level of skill and for enjoyment.

Regular physical activity, such as walking, cycling, doing sports or active recreation, provides significant benefits for health.

Regular physical activity can:

  • Improve muscular and cardiorespiratory fitness;
  • Improve bone and functional health;
  • Reduce the risk of metabolic and lifestyle disorders.
  • Reduce the risk of falls as well as hip or vertebral fractures; and
  • Help maintain a healthy body weight.

It is recommended to engage in at least 30-45 minutes of physical activity of moderate intensity such as walking for at least five days a week.
